Volume 37 of Western Legal History will be devoted to the unique experience of Native Americans and Pacific Islanders. Our Guest Editor, Judge Diane Humetewa (D. Arizona), an enrolled member of the Hopi Tribe and the first Native American woman to be appointed to the federal trial bench is assembling a talented group of writers to topics related to tribal history, sovereignty, federal recognition, land and water allocation, gaming, language recognition, and the historical conflict between Native Nations amid the westward development of the United States on the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Little Big Horn.
