The Board of Directors of the Ninth Judicial Circuit has adopted the following statement regarding access by the public to NJCHS activities:
The NJCHS has long acknowledged that the ethics code for federal judges, the Code of Conduct for United States Judges, provides that judges should not allow outside relationships “to influence judicial conduct or judgment” nor should a judge “convey or permit others to convey the impression that they are in a special position to influence the judge . . . .” Similarly, the ABA Model Rules for Professional Conduct prohibit lawyers from seeking to influence judges by means prohibited by law. In keeping with our commitment to ethical practices, NJHCS programming is open to the public and the NJCHS does not sponsor or arrange any exclusive or private events between donors and judges.
