Join us to learn more about the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII and those who resisted it in this multifaceted program, which will feature Sharon Yamato’s documentary One Fighting Irishman. The film honors the work of Wayne Collins, a lawyer who heroically defended the rights of numerous Japanese Americans during WWII — from Fred Korematsu to “Tokyo Rose” to 5,000 Japanese Americans who were wrongly induced to renounce their US Citizenship. Come hear from Sharon Yamato and Frank Abe, who wrote the award-winning manga book We Hereby Refuse on the topic of Japanese internment. The book is on display at the Kennedy Learning Center, so be sure to stay afterwards to take a closer look!Sponsored by the Ninth Judicial Circuit Historical Society, the Eastern District of California Historical Society, the Sacramento FBA, and Pacific McGeorge school of Law.
